The Tin Lizzie Espresso

“Tin Lizzie Espresso”

We named our new espresso the Tin Lizzie, after the Model T Ford automobile.  Our new roastery is located in the Arts District of Hyattsville, MD, just outside of Northeast Washington D.C., where we got our start roasting coffee.  Our new digs used to house the Palmer Ford auto showroom, the first of it’s kind in Hyattsville in the 1920s.  Read more here to learn about the building and it’s history. Just as this was the first auto showroom in Hyattsville, so is Vigilante in becoming Hyattville's first 3rd wave coffee roastery.  Henry Ford said this about the Model T "I will build a car for the great multitude. It will be large enough for the family, but small enough for the individual to run and care for. It will be constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the simplest designs that modern engineering can devise."  Much like Henry Ford's approach, we aimed to construct the Tin Lizzie espresso to be comprised of the best quality coffees, roasted by the best men & women to be hired, and prepared using the best machines modern engineering has devised.
The Tin Lizzie espresso is comprised of three coffees - Sumatran Mandheling, Ethiopian Derar Ela, and an organic Brazilian.  We designed our espresso blend true to the spirit of Italian-style espresso, known for having a heavy body with deep chocolate and caramel tones.  Our Tin Lizzie espresso offers a sweet floral aroma, notes of dark chocolate and a malt-like finish.  It goes down smooth as a shot or toasty when combined with milk.  We hope you enjoy drinking Tin Lizzie espresso as much as we did crafting it.
