Product Notes: Coffee cultivation has been in the family of Iris Gonzalez de Valladares for over 85 years. When her father first visited Las Cortinas it was love at first sight, causing him to purchase the farm in the early 90’s. Two years later he unfortunately passed away. His daughter Iris has since taken over with the help of her sisters and other family members.
In order to properly maintain and manage her father’s legacy, Iris studied agronomic engineering to learn about ways to improve the quality and production processes. The name Las Cortinas can be translated as curtains, which comes from many tree barriers that were planted in order to protect the coffee plantations from strong winds that tend to blow during the winter months. Finca Las Cortinas has been working to implement many changes and continues to invest in equipment to help with processing methods and their continual commitment to quality.
